Eugene Lai
Chairman

Eugene Lai is currently Chairman of Boardroom Pte. Ltd. and CSE Global Limited and non-executive director of 65 Equity Partners Pte. Ltd. and Capitaland Investment Limited. He has extensive experience in private equity, investment banking and business, including as Managing Director & Co-Managing Partner of Southern Capital Group, where he was from 2007 to 2022, Managing Director of JP Morgan, CEO of The Ascott Group Limited and Managing Director of the Carlyle Group Asia. Eugene Lai has served on the boards of several SGX-listed companies as well as non-profit organizations.

Eugene Lai holds a Masters in Christian Studies (cum laude) from the Biblical Graduate School of Theology, a Master of Laws from Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Laws (first class honours) from The London School of Economics & Political Science, London University.

Chee Yen Gan
Board Member

Chee Yen Gan is a Board Director of Surbana Jurong Pte. Ltd., Singapore Post Limited, and 65 Equity Partners Pte. Ltd.  He is also Chairman and Board Director of V3 Capital Investments Pte. Ltd. and of BHG Retail Trust Management Pte. Ltd., and is an Independent Member of the Investment Committee of Mapletree Japan Investment Country Private Trust.

Chee Yen Gan was previously the Co-President and Executive Director of Pacific International Lines (Private) Limited, where he was a key member of the leadership team to execute the successful turnaround of the business before he retired in August 2022. Prior to that, he was CEO and Executive Director of Fullerton Financial Holdings Pte. Ltd. (‘FFH’). He was Chairman or Board Member of several of its overseas portfolio companies, including being a Board Commissioner of Bank Danamon Indonesia from 2003 to 2019. Prior to FFH, he was Co-Chief Investment Officer, Senior Managing Director, Special Projects and Head of China Market at Temasek International Pte. Ltd. He joined Temasek in May 2003 as Chief Financial Officer and progressed to serve in various investments roles as a member of the senior management team. The investment clusters he led included the Financial Industry portfolio and the Transportation and Logistics portfolio, before he took on the role of Co-Chief Investment Officer where he anchored several successful investments.

Chee Yen Gan holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from National University of Singapore and is a Chartered Accountant (Singapore) of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. He also attended Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development in September 2001.

Philip Lee
Board Member

Philip Lee joined the Board of Heliconia in August 2019, he is currently the Vice-Chairman of Global Banking in HSBC Bank. Philip Lee is also a Board Director of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd., SPH Media Holdings Pte Ltd., Savills Plc, and 65 Equity Partners Pte. Ltd.

He has over 35 years of banking experience, having been the Country Head and CEO of both JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank Singapore operations. He has also worked for CS First Boston and Citigroup in New York and Hong Kong. Earlier, he was also an Industrial and Systems Engineer for Pepsi-Cola Group in California. Philip Lee previously was a council member of the Singapore Government’s Institute of Banking and Finance and Chairman of its Investment Committee.  He was also previously the Chairman of the Singapore Government’s Health Promotion Board and a former Board Director of Land Transport Authority of Singapore.

Philip Lee holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Southern California and a Master’s in Business and International Finance from the Stern School of New York University.

Francis Woo
Board Member

Francis Woo is a Partner and Chief Corporate Officer at 65 Equity Partners, focused on investing in Asia and overseeing the corporate functions of the firm.

Francis Woo joined 65 Equity Partners from global asset manager, Eastspring Investments, where he was Chief Financial Officer and a Board Director. He was, concurrently, a Senior Advisor to TPG and an appointed board director to an investment. Prior to Eastspring, Francis Woo was Managing Director at TPG, where he focused on private equity investments in Southeast Asia, and was Chief Financial Officer for Asia overseeing the firm’s profitability and investment performance. Francis Woo spent over 11 years in investment banking in New York and Singapore, having last worked at Credit Suisse as Co-Head of Corporate Finance for Southeast Asia.

Francis Woo holds an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a BBA from the University of Michigan.

Adrienne Teh
Board Member

Adrienne Teh is currently Head of Portfolio and Risk Management at 65 Equity Partners, based in Singapore.

She joined 65 Equity Partners from Temasek where she has been since 2015. She was part of the Consumer team, focusing on investments in Consumer Products and Services globally. Adrienne Teh had primary responsibility for leading the transformation and value creation of Olam International Holdings into a food ingredients company.

She is also a Board member of Boardroom, Shopback and Carsome. Adrienne Teh was previously Limited Partner Advisory Committee and Board observer of various consumer and consumer tech related funds and companies.

Prior to that, Adrienne Teh was at CIMB Group for over 9 years covering the M&A, divestment, restructuring and expansion activities of the group.

Adrienne Teh has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.

Cynthia Chia
Board Member & Chief Executive Officer

Cynthia Chia is a Board Member & Chief Executive Officer for Heliconia Capital Management Pte Ltd.

Cynthia Chia joined Heliconia Capital Management in July 2013 from a global environmental solutions company that was listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange (“SGX”). She was involved in the company’s investment activities, merger & acquisitions, listing of two of its subsidiaries on SGX (and the subsequent delisting for one of the subsidiary) as well as portfolio management, with a focus in China.

She is also experienced in corporate treasury functions such as banking relations, financial risk management, trade facilities and cash management. In particular, she successfully executed several fund-raising exercises such as syndicated term loans, project financing and refinancing.

Cynthia Chia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the National University of Singapore.

Oliver Wong
Board Member & Chief Investment Officer

Oliver Wong is a Board Member & Chief Investment Officer for Heliconia Capital Management Pte Ltd.

Oliver Wong joined Heliconia Capital Management in June 2017 from RHB Securities Singapore where he was Head of Mergers & Acquisitions and a member of its Management Committee. Prior to RHB Securities, Oliver Wong spent eight years in private equity with Actis and 3i Group plc based in Singapore and responsible for investments in Southeast Asia and China. Before entering the private equity industry, Oliver Wong spent several years in investment banking with Merrill Lynch and UBS in New York and Hong Kong.

Oliver Wong holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a minor in Economics with Highest Distinction from The Pennsylvania State University where he was a William A. Schreyer scholar. He also holds a Master of Liberal Arts degree in Extension Studies (Finance concentration) from Harvard University.

Min Hein Aung is an Investment Analyst at Heliconia Capital Management Pte Ltd.

He supports the evaluation, execution and monitoring of private equity investments and portfolio value creation initiatives.

Min Hein Aung holds a Bachelor of Business (Finance) and a Bachelor of Accountancy, with Summa Cum Laude, from Singapore Management University where he was an ASEAN Undergraduate Scholar.

Xi Ning Chin is a Senior Associate at Heliconia Capital Management Pte Ltd.

He joined Heliconia Capital Management Pte Ltd from several boutique investment firms across private equity impact investments and equity research.

Xi Ning Chin holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University. He is a CFA Charterholder and a Chartered Accountant of Singapore.

Celine Chua
Associate, Finance

Celine Chua is an Associate at Heliconia Capital Management Pte Ltd.

She joined Heliconia Capital Management from DP World, where she was responsible for the AP and AR functions in the APAC Finance team. Prior to that, Celine Chua was with Irisnation Worldwide and SP Group.

Celine Chua holds a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business and Management from Murdoch University.

Yi Xuan Hen
Vice President, Investments

Yi Xuan Hen is a Vice President at Heliconia Capital Management.

He joined from Navis Capital Partners, a regional middle-market private equity firm, where he focused on buyouts across the consumer, industrials, services, and technology sectors in Southeast Asia. Prior to that, he was a Leveraged Finance Associate at HSBC, focused on private equity-backed leveraged financing across Asia.

Yi Xuan Hen holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Economics from the National University of Singapore and is a CFA charterholder.

Hong Mui Khoo
Assistant Finance Manager

Hong Mui Khoo is an Assistant Finance Manager at Heliconia Capital Management Pte Ltd.

She joined Heliconia Capital Management from Pacific Star, where she was responsible for the accounts and operations for their real estate funds. Prior to that, she worked at Oaktree Capital Management and JAFCO Investment. She is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountant (ISCA).

Hong Mui Khoo holds a professional certification from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Jacinda Lim
HR Manager

Jacinda Lim is a Human Resources Manager at Heliconia Capital Management.

Prior to transitioning into human resources, she supported the CEO and Board of Directors, gaining valuable experience working closely with senior leadership. She joined Heliconia Capital Management from Singapore Airlines, where she served as a leading cabin crew member.

Jacinda Lim holds a degree of Bachelor of Science in Business from SIM University.

Leonard Lim
Assistant Finance Manager

Leonard Lim is an Assistant Finance Manager at Heliconia Capital Management.

He joined Heliconia Capital Management from Great Eastern, where he was a Senior Associate in the Investment Accounting team. Prior to that, he was an Audit Senior Associate with Deloitte Singapore, with audit experience in investment holding companies and in the banking industry.

Leonard Lim holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from the Singapore Management University.

Ming Jern Soo
Managing Director, Investments

Ming Jern Soo is a Managing Director (Investments) at Heliconia Capital.

At Heliconia, he has been involved with about 20 private and public portfolio companies in the Technology, Industrials, Consumer and Healthcare sectors in Singapore.

He joined Heliconia Capital in 2013 from EDBI, the investment arm of the Singapore Economic Development Board, where he focused on venture capital and private equity investments in technology companies.

Prior to that, from 2002 to 2008, he held various roles at the Singapore Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), including technology management, project management, system engineering, strategic master planning, and investment management at DSTA’s venture investment company Cap Vista.

Ming Jern Soo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (Highest honors) from the University of California Berkeley, a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and a Masters degree in Financial Engineering from the National University of Singapore.

Kevin Tan
Senior Principal, Investments

Kevin Tan is a Senior Investment Principal at Heliconia Capital Management.

Kevin Tan joined Heliconia Capital Management from Partners Group, where he was an Assistant Vice President responsible for co-investments in leveraged buyouts across Asia. Prior to that, he was a Vice President at Duxton Asset Management where he was responsible for growth capital investments and exits in Vietnam. He was also an Investment Manager at EDBI where he was responsible for investments across various sectors in Singapore. Before entering the private equity industry, Kevin Tan was an Assistant Head at the Economic Development Board where he was responsible for promoting foreign direct investments in the healthcare industry in Singapore.

Kevin Tan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and Chemistry from Cornell University and is a CFA Charterholder. He has completed the LEAD Advanced Management Program at ESSEC Business School.

WenBin Tan
Finance Manager

WenBin Tan is the Finance Manager at Heliconia Capital Management Pte Ltd.

He joined Heliconia Capital Management Pte Ltd from KPMG Singapore where he was an Audit Senior primarily focused on private equity and investment management engagements. He is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountant (ISCA).

WenBin Tan holds a Bachelor of Accountancy with Honours from Singapore Institute of Technology.

Derrick Wu
Principal, Investments

Derrick Wu is an Investment Principal at Heliconia Capital Management, having joined the firm in 2023.

Prior to Heliconia, Derrick Wu was an entrepreneur in the F&B and service industries, founding and scaling businesses through to their successful exits.

Before his entrepreneurial journey, Derrick Wu spent nearly a decade in investment banking. He specialized in M&A at Macquarie Group and Rippledot Capital, where he executed transactions in Southeast Asia across various sectors.

Derrick Wu holds a Master of Management Science from Imperial College London and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Liverpool.

Jia Xin Yap
Associate, Finance

Jia Xin Yap is a Finance Associate at Heliconia Capital Management Pte Ltd.

She joined Heliconia Capital Management Pte Ltd from Deloitte LLP, where she was Senior Associate in the Financial Service Industry segment, assisting with private equity funds and international banks. She is a Chartered Accountant with ICAEW.

Jia Xin Yap holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Accountancy) with Honours (Distinction) from National University of Singapore.

Li Sze Yeo
Finance Director

Li Sze Yeo is the Finance Director at Heliconia Capital Management Pte Ltd.

Prior to joining Heliconia Capital Management, she spent over 9 years with GMG Global Ltd and later Halcyon Agri Ltd in Singapore, where she was a Senior Manager in the finance shared services of the Group, involving in their financial reporting. Before GMG Global, Li Sze Yeo worked in listed companies in similar financial reporting roles and in KMPG as an auditor. She is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountant (ISCA).

Li Sze Yeo holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University.

Ted Tan
Operating Partner

Ted Tan is an Operating Partner at Heliconia Capital Management.

Ted Tan joined Heliconia Capital Management from Enterprise Singapore, an economic agency under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, where he was the Deputy Chief Executive responsible for growing enterprises into regionally and globally competitive companies.

He is currently the Chairman of SGX-listed Q&M Dental Group, Board Member of Temasek’s Trusted Services, and China Life Insurance (Singapore).

He was the former Chairman of SGX-listed CSE Global and SEEDS Capital, as well as Board Member of Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) Ventures Ltd and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS).

Ted Tan spent 18 years in the private sector and was the CEO and Managing Director of U.S. and UK companies. He led in several successful mergers and acquisitions and was instrumental in the IPO of a Fintech company.

Ted Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) in Electrical Engineering and MBA. He has completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School, Senior Executive Programmes at Tsinghua and Fudan University and the International Directors Programme at INSEAD. He is a Senior Accredited Director with the Singapore Institute of Directors.

He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2012.
